ABOUT US - CORES
CALDAR is organized into three Cores:
Coordination & Integration (C&I) Core is
responsible for overall leadership for the Center projects and
for administration and coordination across Cores. This Core implements
the Center decision-making and advisory structures; provides opportunities
for and promotes scientific collaboration, cross-fertilization
of research ideas, and cross-project analyses; provides projects
with centralized services for common project functions; provides
training for research personnel, new investigators, and students;
and disseminates findings to a variety of communities.
Core Director: Yih-Ing Hser, Ph.D.
Associate Core Director: Christine Grella,
Ph.D.
Center Coordinator: Cheryl Teruya, Ph.D.
Assistant to the Director: Elizabeth Evans,
M.A.
Research Support & Development (RS&D) Core promotes
the Center’s theme by enhancing the conceptualization of
and methodological approaches to longitudinal research. This
Core promotes conceptual development and integration in longitudinal
drug abuse research; enhances and standardizes methodological aspects
of longitudinal research across Center projects, including centralized
assistance in the acquisition of administrative data; tracks regulatory
issues particularly relevant in longitudinal drug abuse research;
and assists other Center dissemination efforts.
Associate Core Director: Debra Murphy,
Ph.D.
Core Coordinator: Darren Urada, Ph.D.
Statistical Support & Data Management (SS&DM) Core provides
support in statistics and data management. This Core provides
statistical consultation to Center investigators and affiliated
members on analysis issues relevant to longitudinal research on
drug abuse; offers a program of education on analysis of longitudinal
data, specialized to drug abuse research applications; conducts
analysis of longitudinal data combined across multiple studies
in order to expand, compare, and validate complex models; provides
consultation on processing of high quality data in longitudinal
studies; and promotes the comparability and accessibility of data
acquired by Center researchers.
Core Director: Mary-Lynn Brecht, Ph.D.
Associate Director: David Huang, Ph.D.
Core Coordinator: Darren Urada, Ph.D.
Other senior members include Drs. Michael Prendergast and David
Farabee, both of the University of California, Los Angeles, Integrated
Substance Abuse Programs, and Dr. Constance Weisner, of the University
of California, San Francisco, and Kaiser Permanente.
